    what are the entry requirements?

    For the Integrated APP First Officer programme, you are required to hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or higher, including Maths, English and Physics or Double Science Award, plus two other subjects. We accept the equivalent academic level for education completed outside of the UK. You must be a minimum of 17 ½ years old to attend the Skills Assessment and a minimum of 18 years old to enrol on the course.

    For Modular programmes the main entry requirement is an ICAO PPL. Please visit the course information pages for details of the specific entry criteria for each course. You must be a minimum of 18 years old to start training.

    what level of english is required?

    APP First Officer Programme

    You are required to hold a secondary school English qualification equal to or exceeding a UK GCSE at grade C or higher. UK students take GCSE exams at age 16.

    Modular Pilot Training

    Although there is no minimum English level requirement, those who are not fluent in English may experience difficulties with the training because it is conducted entirely in English.

    should I hold an easa class 1 medical to apply?

    You are not required to hold the Class 1 medical for the APP First Officer 2-day Skills Assessment, but you must hold a Class 1 medical when you are ready to enrol on a course of training.

    The Class 1 medical is issued at the UK Civil Aviation Authority's (CAA) medical centre near London Gatwick Airport.

    Before applying, we advise all prospective candidates to familiarise themselves with the requirements of the EASA Class 1 initial medical validation process, which can be found on the UK CAA's website here: CAA Medical Information.

    is previous flight training experience or a ppl required?

    No flying experience is required for enrolment on to the Integrated APP First Officer or MPL programmes.

    The minimum of an ICAO PPL is required to enrol upon our Modular pilot training programmes.

    APP First Officer Programme

    Accommodation in Phoenix, AZ is included on a room only basis within the course fee, whilst accommodation at Oxford during training is not included.

    We can offer room only accommodation at Oxford in our Halls of Residence. For further information please contact the training advisory team.

    Meals are not included in the course fees.

    Modular Pilot Training

    No, accommodation and food is not included in the cost of training, unless specified.

    MPL Programme

    MPL Programmes vary according to the airline sponsor so please check the specific course details for further information.

    Will I be required to occupy CAE Oxford Aviation Academy accommodation during the course?

    Yes, we include room only accommodation during your training in Phoenix, AZ.

    Does CAE Oxford Aviation Academy offer a bank loan scheme?

    Yes, CAE Oxford Aviation Academy has bespoke bank loan schemes in place with BBVA bank which offer UK and French residents access to funding and alleviates the financial pressures while students undertake their training.     What training programmes offer the SkillsPlus Guarantee?

    The Skills Guarantee is offered as part of the APP First Officer and MPL First Officer Programmes.

    What does the SkillsPlus Guarantee cover?

    All training (including remedial), equipment and testing (including re-testing) fees are included in the single price of our APP First Officer and MPL Pilot Training Courses.

    Our unique SkillsPlus Guarantee pricing policy means that in the unlikely event further training is required to achieve the required standard there are:

    1. No remedial training fees
    2. No ground exam retake fee
    3. No flight test retake fees

    In the highly unlikely event that you’re training ceases completely (despite remedial training) due to lack of aptitude you will receive a refund of the costs of training already received and any unused fees paid in advance. Course deposit and accommodation is excluded.

    How can I apply?

    The first step is to see if you meet the eligibility criteria listed for your preferred training course and any citizenship requirements. If you believe you fit the profile, then you are invited to complete and submit an application form.

    What is the Skills Assessment for the APP First Officer programme?

    To be able to enrol on to our Integrated APP First Officer programme, you must first complete a Skills Assessment. The assessment is a one-day process and is held weekly at Oxford.

    Can international students train at Oxford?

    Yes, we do accept international students subject to them securing a UK study visa.

    Do I need a visa?

    EU applicants do not require a visa.

    All non-EU applicants are required to have a recent English proficiency test result in order to obtain a UK student visa. The current list of exempted nationalities and the list of acceptable English Tests are available on the UK Home Office website.

    You will also be required to gain a US M1 visa for training that takes place in Phoenix, AZ.

    Is there any age limit?

    The minimum age to enrol is 18 years old; there is no upper age limit.

    We have several airline partners that rely on the high standards of our pilot training and a graduate Careers team that provides support to our APP First Officer graduates in securing their first flying role.

    Nevertheless, the employment rates vary and are dependent on the status of the Aviation Industry. Our employment statistics are published on our website, showing per annual year. They are consistent and show a healthy number of students are gaining employment on completion of their training.
